Police identify suspect in bakery armed robbery

PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WMBF) - Police in Georgetown County have identified the man wanted in the strong armed robbery of the Pawleys Island Bakery.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing grey and red striped shirt, black pants, black shoes and a grey hat when the crime was reported on May 10.

The man entered a business on the 10,500 block of Ocean Highway around 1:20 p.m. that day requesting change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, authorities say the man reached into the drawer and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - An investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has landed a Pawleys Island man behind bars, charged with breach of trust.

That investigation was requested by the SC Fire and Life Education Association. At its conclusion, 43-year-old Robert A. Beebe II was arrested and charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent, value of $10,000 or more.

County warns of man posing as government employee

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Georgetown County has taken to their Facebook page to address concerns over a man posing at a government official.

According to their post, an unknown white male was recently spotted outside a home that the owners had just recently left, claiming to be a county employee in the area to perform an inspection.

When someone questioned him and asked for identification, he refused to show it citing that he was not required to do so.

Pawleys Island to install surveillance cameras

PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WMBF) - By the end of the summer, a series of surveillance cameras could be watching travelers who enter Pawleys Island.

Those cameras, according to Police Chief Mike Fanning, will be installed on public roads to monitor those that enter and leave the town, checking the vehicle tags and comparing them to a public database.

The purchase of the cameras was recently approved by the Pawleys Island Town Council. WMBF News Reporter Stephanie Robusto asked Pawleys Island residents what they thought about the cameras and got some mixed reactions.

Georgetown attempted murder suspect in custody

GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – A person was shot in Georgetown County early Monday morning, and the suspect police believe to be responsible has turned himself in to face charges.

At about 2:50 a.m. Monday morning, a physical altercation escalated into a shooting event in the 1400 block of St. Delight's Road in the Sampit Community of Georgetown County, according to a news release from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect, 20-year-old Rashaun Taylor, fled the scene in an unknown direction after shooting the victim several times, officials stated.

Police name suspect in golf cart thefts

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police have named a suspect in a number of golf cart thefts and hope the public can help locate him.

According to a Facebook past on Horry County Police Department "Official Page", Jeffrey Lewis Floyd is wanted for golf cart thefts in Little River and Garden City.
